Monster Underneath

Villagers yelled and threw miscellaneous objects towards the beast. This was the daily occurrence, the same routine. The beast walks into town, enchants the children and walks back to the hill beyond the river. Stories have been told, about a creature most foul, hideous that it wears a long hood with a blank mask. Children would gather around it, linking arms as a protective barrier of some sort. This prevented the villagers from inflicting pain towards the beast. They learned the hard way however, families had become depressed and mourned for their lost children that have been killed. Thus creating the hate for this disgusting entity, it puts children in a trance for it to use as protection.

Rumors were spread about how this monster was a heartless fiend who uses people for selfish gain. More words were spoken about how ugly the beast really is under the mask, some died from utter shock; but those are just what people say.

A day or so and the same routine follows. Although this time, a wondering traveler from the mountains ventured into the village for a place to rest. He overheard the stories of the beast from two drunkards, not too far away from his table inside an inn. Being a man of adventure, he conversed with the two to give him more insight about this creature.

From that point, he ventured into the forest over the river and to the hill where the creature rests.

This beginning only turns into a quest, a quest to find the monster, and find what is truly underneath the mask.
